I've been practicing yoga with Susan Coady for three decades now. Yoga is a staple of my self-care routine. I have had many different teachers during that time, but consistently studied with Susan. Why? Because she combines all the different benefits into one class. I've had teachers who've focused on the healing aspects of yoga; teachers who've pointed out how yoga benefits different parts of the body's anatomy; teachers who've emphasized the spiritual aspects of pranayama and meditation; teachers who've shown me how to bring the lessons of yoga "off the mat" into my daily life. Susan does all of these things and more. She is gentle and firm at once. She is knowledgeable and continues to learn and evolve in her own practice, and shares her learning with us, her beloved students. Practicing yoga with Susan all these years has been one of the great privileges and gifts in my life.
My yoga practice with Susan began 35 years ago and across six locations over the years. I’ve had the opportunity to practice with and learn from several teachers over the years, but Sue’s classes are my mainstay; it always feels like coming home to return. Her classes are so much more than a physical practice. They include Yoga tradition and philosophy, Ayurveda, anatomy, chanting, guided meditation, breath work and relevant research on the many benefits of yoga, always offered with humor, curiosity and kindness. Sue’s guidance on self-care practices have sustained me through life’s changes for more than three decades. Somehow, each practice is just what I needed on that particular day. Thank you, Sue!
About five years ago I began having serious back problems; I had difficulty walking due to pain radiating down my leg and weakness causing instability. OTC anti-inflammatory meds, chiropractor treatments, physical therapy, steroid injections did not help. While feeling down about my health, I learned about Susan Coady’s Yoga Classes through an adult education presentation and class. I had taken Yoga classes in the past that were too strenuous and too fast to help; I always felt worse after the class. However, Susan’s classes are very different. They include stretching and strengthening all major muscle groups, moving all joints, and balancing exercises. The positions are done in a slow, repetitive, and meditative way. These classes have helped me to attain, and maintain, a healthy and active lifestyle. And when I miss the opportunity for the weekly classes, my back reminds me of the omission. I am grateful for having the opportunity to take Susan’s classes (long distance, as I am in Virginia, and she is teaching online from Maine).
I have been practicing yoga with Susan for over 20 years. Practicing with Susan has greatly enhanced my physical, mental and spiritual well-being. Her knowledge of and years of experience practicing yoga is a gift to all of us. Every session with Susan is a gift to yourself.
I have been practicing yoga with Sue for over 15 years. I have gone to other practitioners thru the years, however Sue has always made my sessions feel totally complete - mind and body. She has a gentle, soothing manner. No pressure to go beyond your comfort level. Beginner to experienced, she will make your session enriching and peaceful.
(Sue is my grandma). Sue is filled with knowledge, experience, and passion of the art of yoga. Her classes are generously affordable for the value that they can bring to our busy, disconnected lives. Her practice is focused on building personal relationships, one-on-one with her students, meaning you will not find a class like hers from anyone else. You'll love her classes and you'll love her.
